Welcome To District 7930's Marvelous Interact History!

Interactors are like Rotarians, consisting of young men and women volunteers of high school age who work hard to help others in their communities. We are very fortunate in 7930 to have a growing number of these s sponsored by the various Rotary s from Boston, Massachusetts to Salem, New Hampshire!

Through their service activities, Interactors learn the importance of:
  • developing leadership skills and personal integrity
  • demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others
  • understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work
  • advancing international understanding and goodwill

The first Interact was initiated in 1962 by the Rotary of Melbourne, Florida. Two months later, the first Interact outside the United States was established in Tanjore, India. Today there are more than 6,650 Interact s in some 103 countries and geographical areas, making Interact a truly worldwide phenomenon.

Our annual Rotary District Interact Assembly is held every spring and is a great success!!

The program included stimulating workshops, panel discussions and the opportunity to mix, mingle, network and make new friends.

Pictured is an Interact District Assembly hosted by the Wilmington High School Interact - can you find yourself in this snapshot?

Interact Update Form District Interact Chair Roger Bell would like to remind sitting Interact Presidents and their Advisors that every Interact must submit the "Interact Incoming Officer Data Form" to Rotary International on an annual basis. And, now, there is a faster, easier way to submit this information. Effective immediately Interact s can update their data through the RI Website at:

Click Here: Interact Update Site on the Rotary International Website  (please be patient!)

Of course, those without Internet access may still submit the Interact Incoming Officer Data Form (after downloading it from the RI website) by mail, fax, or e-mail. In either case, data must be submitted to RI no later than 30 June.

NEW !!

INTERACT CORRESPONDENCE EXCHANGE LIST

District 7930 Interact s interested in exchanging ideas with Interactors in other parts of the world are invited to add your Interact to the 2007-08 Correspondence Exchange List. Whether you want to plan a joint project or just become pen pals, the Correspondence Exchange List is an excellent resource for advancing international understanding and goodwill. And since one of the four standing committees to be appointed by the Interact President is the "International Understanding Committee", the Exchange List is an excellent resource for advancing international understanding and goodwill. Only s that have given RI permission to print their contact information are included in the list. s may authorize RI to include your 's name and contact details in the 2007-08 list when updating your Officer Data Form…which is due to RI by the end of June of each year. Also, s can ask to be included on the list or request a copy of this year's list by emailing interact@rotary.org

The Interact students at the Gr. Lawrence Technical School

once again developed

a service project to enhance

their school property and community. Under the tutelage of

teacher Bill Tarboxand Rotarian Ron Hill, students

and Rotarians painted a large-scale map, 30x50’ of the U.S., to the

left side of the school, near the swimming pool entrance.

Participating students included Dariana Perez, Stephen Espaillat , Billy Meyers,

Michelle Powell, John Provencal and Juan Santiago. Rotarians who also helped

at various times during the 3-day project were: J.B. Doherty, Alan Shafer,

David Nobil, Tony Lopez, Peter Lafond, Mark McCrill, Tim Hatch, Ken Hannan,

Tom Kelley and David Dreyfus.

    IPSWICH INTERACT

IpswichInteract-A.jpg - 102854 Bytes

The first year of the Ipswich Interact was a busy one. Interact has been growing strong and their presence at local Rotary events has been great! Interactors assisted Rotarians in various events including serving Ice Cream Sundays at the Annual Seniors lunch at Ipswich Town Hall, as well as working side by side Rotarians and EarlyAct students to clean up Rotary Park and the Ipswich River. Swampscott is only one of several started by local Rotarians! Started as TOPS (Teen Outreach Program of Swampscott) an organization at the Swampscott High School that considered teens to be a respectable, concerned, powerful yet under-utilized force in the community, the program expanded into Interact under the guidance of the Swampscott Rotary .

GLOUCESTER'S INTERACT

A defining gift: In November 2005, Gloucester's Interact donated 375 dictionaries
to third-graders in the East Gloucester Elementary School!

WILMINGTON'S ACTIVE INTERACT !

Wilmington's Interact has performed much public service including 10 members collected $300 worth of cans and bottles;
They also collected food items for the Wilmington Commissary. Internationally, the Interactors raised $1,000 at a snowball dance
they ran to help the Venezuelan victims of devastating rains.
Wilmington Rotary doubled the amount and then the Rotary Foundation doubled it again for a total of $4,000!
Their latest project has been helping Winchester Hospital’s “Big Steps For Little People” raising $2,700!
The Wilmington Interact has certainly set an example for others to follow!

WINCHESTER ROTARY'S

COMMUNITY-BASED

INTERACT CLUB

Chartered May 3, 2002 with 15 members, youngest is 14, oldest is 17.

This is District 7930's first community-based (not school-based) Interact . All students reside in Winchester, but go to different schools - some attend public school in Winchester, others attend private school in other towns.
The Interact serves as their social hub for community and international service and fellowship.
The Interactors meet the first and third Sunday afternoon of every month
